The Bolokanang Library in Petrusburg, South Africa, is a dual-purpose community and school library. The library provides resources and services for educational development and lifelong learning for people of all ages.
A modern, well-equipped computer lab offers free internet access, internet-enabled computers, tablets, and printers. It includes a service offering access to educational toys to support early childhood development, helping children develop essential literacy and numeracy skills.
The library is a beneficiary of the Mzansi Libraries Online project, providing technological equipment for users with disabilities, as well as training programs for staff and was built with funding from the Community Library Conditional Grant from the Department of Arts and Culture. Every year on Nelson Mandela Day the librarians provide vegetable soup to the community children and for some of these children this is the only food they will receive for the day. Supporting local libraries is essential for fostering strong, educated, and connected communities so go give them a visit.
