An “honesty library” is a type of free book exchange, often found in public spaces, where individuals can donate books and borrow them without any cost or formal lending system. The concept relies on the trust of individuals to leave donated books and return or replace books they take.
Honesty libraries operate on a voluntary donation and borrowing basis. There are no fees, membership requirements, or formal check-out procedures.
The goal is to foster a community of book lovers who share their reading materials with others.
